Manta Rota is part of a long sweep of fine golden sand that arches from the edge of the town of Vila Real de Santo António located on the Spanish border, to Praia de Cabanas in Tavira.

The beach at Manta Rota sits on the edge of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, an important wetland where a host of migratory birds, and other wildlife, are found in abundance.

The beach is backed by low sand dunes which seem to go on for ever, adding to the feeling of space and tranquility.

​

It is often said the sea temperature at Manta Rosa is warmer than much of the Algarve. This is partly due to the shallow slope of the beach which not only keeps the water warmer but makes it perfect for paddling.

​

You'll often find many people picking fresh clams alongside the seashore. 

​

Manta Rota is a great family beach with plenty of facilities.

There is a lifeguard service, showers & toilets, a couple of restaurants on the beachfront, and many others in town, as well as shops.
